Who are you targeting? Do you go randomly throughout neighborhoods or are you targeting specific customers? I would focus on areas where they may have a need for your service, namely, new home owners and areas which have recently been hit by crime.

If you've lived in a neighborhood for 10 years and never had a problem, what reason do you have for a home security system? But new home owners are generally in a strange neighborhood, and are willing to put money into their new homes. Any realty site can give you addresses of homes for sale, once they sell, they would be viable customers.

If a neighbor was recently struck by crime or fire, people may see the value in your business a little more clearly. Check the local fire and police blotters for possible areas to canvas.

Try going back and revisiting your "Why's". Why did you start doing this job? What kind of numbers were you shooting for every month? What made you choose this product over all others? Sometimes when we go back to the mindset we had when we started something, it all comes back and so does the enthusiasm. If it doesn't, then it may be time for a change.
I am in sales as well and had 3 people call me on January 1st! I ended up working all day and this month is turning out to be the best month I've ever had with this business! I market a health product, so maybe after Christmas, people are really starting to look at getting into shape for spring. If you're open to another stream of income, perhaps you want to take a look at this.

People have guilt after spending so much during the holidays and it's hard to get them to buy something. Perhaps you should lay some ground work for the coming months by striking up relationships with people and not push so hard. Your boss isn't going to like this because his boss isn't going to like it but, that's the way it is.
