At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of Lt. Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.
There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning!
He was being drilled by some senator; "Did you not recently spend close to ,000 for a home security system?"
Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."
The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn’t that just a little excessive?"
"No, sir," continued Ollie.
"No? And why not?" the senator asked.
"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."
"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.
"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.
"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"
"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.
At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn’t pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn’t. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.
"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.
"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.
"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."
The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.
By the way, that senator was Al Gore
North should still be locked up for betraying America.
The Republican Congress of the 1990s ignored VP Al Gore’s "Gore Commission Report on Aviation Safety and Security". The Commission’s recommendations would have stopped the 9-11 attacks dead – but the Republicans fellated the airline lobbyists instead of protecting America.
I remember the Ollie North trial, but not much of it was aired on local news channels. Just goes to show that the US was warned about the threat, and even at one point had him in custody, I believe around the time of the first attack on the World Trade Center.
yes, i do remember the time when north was testifying but do not remember it was gore that did the questioning.
Al Gore should be locked up for betraying America.
Here’s another famous Gore blunder:

Gore To Bush: You Ignored Saddam’s Terrorist Ties!
Al Gore lashes out face-to-face at President Bush, Sr. in 1992, accusing him of failing to act on Saddam’s nuclear weapons and WMD programs.
However, it seems that the above conversation never actually occurred. Osama bin Laden was still working for the CIA in 1987, and the terrorist North referred to was Abu Nidal.

No ones cares about Gore but cons and no one would blame a person for not wanting to kill someone they knew little about. But thanks for reminding us what crap North was.
No I only remember that Ollie got his tit in the wringer. I was not interested in watching the news. How interesting.
