Iwant to visually monitor my home while I am away on vacation and was looking for a cost effective solution , using the w.w.w. to acheive my Home-Survaliance. I only want to use USB cameras and the internet, without buying any pricy equiptment or overly expensive software. Does anyone no of any such thing or have any suggestions?

    Camebert
is a web cam viewer that can be used to monitor any number of web cams around the globe. You can set the program to automatically update each cam on a pre-defined schedule. A really neat feature is the option to minimize the web cams to a tiny row of thumbnails (size can be customized) which allows you to keep an eye on the cam without wasting much desktop space. Additional features include support for proxy servers, import of web cam lists and more. (Requires free registration).

    Secure Cam
is a motion detecting web cam surveillance software that can automatically capture a series of images whenever motion is detected in the monitored area. You can adjust the detection sensitivity, automatically archive captured still images and playback the images in sequence with the supplied viewer application. Secure Cam can monitor and display up to 99 cameras and automatically organizes captures based on the device. Other features include support for multiplexing, time stamps, text overlay and more. The program works with webcams, as well as DVR cards.

Freeware; other items in same general area.
