HI

My questions pertains to remote viewing of security cameras at my business from my home computer. I have a networkable DVR and would like to know the steps to follow to set this up. Can any one assist with the installation steps I need to take. I realize I will need to have my internet provider provide me with a static IP address which talks to the router, but after that I don’t clear on the process

You will need to check the DVR settings to see what port and what IP it uses. This is usually in the setup software for it.Then you simply go to the Applications/Gaming tab on the linksys and forward that port to that IP.

If you use say 192.168.1.10:8013 to "view the cameras" (and many do, I just set one up yesterday, on some you have to set the port to be used) then on the router you would forward 8013 to 192.168.1.10.

What then happens is from outside your network (from the internet) you would simply use the Public IP like 88.23.22.1:8013 when that request hits the router, the router will "forward" that to the correct INTERNAL address. So check your DVR to see what port is uses and simply forward that port in the router to the DVR’s local IP.

In most cases you will have to have the DVR software installed on whatever machine you use to connect. In it you will see the IP address and the port it is using to connect to the DVR.

Good luck and let me know if you need more info.

You can find your answer by technical support of linksys. Click on ‘ask linksys’. It had also helped me a lot for my problem with my router.
