how much will my mom get for social security if she is 62 years old currently and only been with her job 3yrs?

my mom previously worked as an independent contractor for home health care and after having a heart attack decided to go to an office job, she’s only been there probably 3 years. Is retirement still 62 1/2 for her and how much approximately will she receive with social security alone? I don’t think she’s fully vested with her new company because it’s only been 3 years since she started there. I ask because my husband and I want her to stay home with the baby we’re attempting to conceive but I need to be able to give her some solid numbers so we all don’t get screwed.

Even though she worked as an independent contractor, she should have paid into Social Security. (That’s the law)

A person must pay into social security for at least 40 quarters (10 years) in order to collect social security.

It is possible mom qualifies under dads social security.

You can walk into any social security office (with ID) and get a benefit statement. This may also be done by mail.
