if you are going to disconnect the dial tone, then you should contact your alarm company and let them know.. as disconnecting the dial tone may send a flag to the central monitoring station for your alarm company…. if you are leaving the dial tone alone, and just your incoming calls are going to be forwarded.. and your alarm system can still phone home to the monitoring station then you should be fine…
if you are going away for a period of time, i would not recommend disconnecting the communication link between the alarm and the monitoring station (your phone line)… instead have your phone company remove all of the call features (except the call forward that you need) and drop the calling package to basic dial tone service (should cost about $10 a month) this way if the alarm does go off while you are away, the monitoring station can dispatch fire/police to your home.. and also reset your alarm remotely..
That depends do you mean you are turning the ringer off or that your getting it temporarily disconnected. Your security system will only be effected if you don’t have a transmitting phone line going into it. How else is it going to report an incident to your alarm company.
