Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration

He was being drilled by a democratic senator, ‘Did you not recently spend close to ,000 for a home Security system?

‘Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir.’

‘Threatened? By whom?’ the senator questioned.

‘By a terrorist, sir’ Ollie answered.

‘Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?’

‘His name is Osama bin Laden, sir’ Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn’t pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn’t. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator
continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?’ the senator asked.

‘Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of’, Ollie answered.

‘And what do you recommend we do about him?’ asked the senator.

‘Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to
eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth.’

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By the way, that senator was Al Gore!

I remember why Ollie North was in the stand, that’s for sure. I am glad to see that arms to Iran is something contempory Conservatives can rally behind, it was arms to pretty much any group. Including hezbollah

  6. Virgil Singletooth says:

Ollie North was classic proud Republican. He fell into lock goose step with his leaders and forged ahead with a business transaction involving terrorists and the US government. Period. And Republicans hail him as a hero.

Thanks for he reminder. The Republican party has not changed one single bit. They really are frozen in time.

Ollie was "right on" with that one..

Yes!!! Sadly this proves the left wing mentality that libs will ignore problems until they become too big to handle, then they blame Republicans!!! The fact is the libs do this on a daily bases hiding and waiting for a scapegoat to blame instead of taking a stand and doing what is necessary!!!

I shot a short film a couple of weeks ago. It was a two-day shoot. Two days. I had to have a million-dollar general liability insurance policy to satisfy the city’s requirement for pulling the permits. The premium was $505.00. Why the extra $5? TERRORISM. I was not insured against equipment damage or loss, but I was insured against terrorism. It’s a requirement for all commercial insurance policies, as it turns out.

If terrorism isn’t a big deal, why did my little film shoot have to be, by law, insured for it?

So you want to talk about Iran Contra?
    LOL

Reagan sold weapons to Iran you do remember that part as well?

  13. WereTurtle says:

This is a distortion of the truth. North wasn’t talking about Bin Laden, he was talking about Abu Nidal.

    You fail.
