I think they require a 3 year contract. They do have a moving clause though so that if you move after 1 year, you can get them to give you a new system. (Meaning someone might not cut your phone line for your alarm system). If you do go for a system, I would recommend getting one of those key fobs instead of getting an additional alarm panel. Good thing it is very easy to shop on line, as far as seeking out reviews for the companies you would consider - and since you are looking to protect your home and family, it's worth taking the approach you are following to get some additional opinions.
