Why is AVG Anti Virus not recognised by Vista?

I run AVG Free Anti Virus on both my PC and my laptop. The laptop has Windows XP and the Security Centre sees and reports AVG as on and working. My PC has Windows Vista Home and the Security Centre does not see AVG and leaves me to monitor my Anti Virus protection. Why is this and can I amend my PC to recognise AVG?
AVG works fine on PC and laptop. It was the report in Security Centre that my query is about.

I run Vista and was running AVG okay until I decided to switch to Avast http://majorgeeks.com/Avast_Home_Edition_d1968.html

It works for me on Vista 32 bit and Windows 7 64 bit but it would not work on Windows 7 32 bit for some reason.

    Go figure.

AVG 8.0 works fine for me on every computer that I own.

you have something set wrong in your configuration, or it isn’t loading on startup.

I’m using Vista Home Basic & AVG - and it’s running fine !

Windows Security Centre is recognising the software without any problems.

I’ve seen reports of this happening in a couple of security forums. You need to download AVG again and reinstall it.
